Working for a Better Pasco
A reflection on President Bush's Record:
Actions speak louder than words!
- Bush has consistently snubbed the NAACP and refused to address the annual convention
- Bush is the first sitting president since Warren G Harding (1921-1923) not to meet with the NAACP
- Bush stated his relationship with the NAACP’s leadership is “basically nonexistent.”
- Bush appointed an outspoken CRITIC of affirmative action to head the Civil Rights Commission
- Gerald Reynolds, the new commissioner of the Civil Rights Commission, called affirmative action the “BIG LIE.”
- Reynolds record: while at the Department of Education, Reynolds worked to undercut Title IX equal funding sources
- his co-workers state they wouldn’t be surprised to see him challenge the Voting Rights Act which is up for renewal in 2007–nor should you!
- *Bush’s federal judiciary will be more conservative and hostile to civil rights - only 26.5 % of the Bush appointee’s make liberal decisions protecting civil rights
